Reframe any video to 4:5 at 1080 x 1350, the shape the Instagram feed actually wants. Free, in your browser.

The crop is pre-set to 4:5 for Instagram. Switch ratio in the panel if you need a different placement.
We process the crop on our servers. Create a free account to download, or keep editing in REQO.
Instagram gives portrait video the most screen space in the feed. A 4:5 post at 1080 x 1350 is the tallest shape the feed will show without cropping it back, which is why it consistently occupies more of the screen than a square or a landscape clip.
Reels and Stories are a different shape entirely: full-screen 9:16 at 1080 x 1920. If the clip is going to Reels rather than the feed, crop to 9:16 instead, there is a dedicated page for that linked below.
Instagram re-compresses everything on upload, so give it a clean 1080-wide source. Uploading a small, heavily compressed file means the platform compresses an already-degraded picture a second time.
| Placement | Aspect ratio | Frame size |
|---|---|---|
| Feed (portrait) | 4:5 | 1080 x 1350 |
| Feed (square) | 1:1 | 1080 x 1080 |
| Feed (landscape) | 1.91:1 | 1080 x 566 |
| Reels and Stories | 9:16 | 1080 x 1920 |
Cropping changes what is inside the frame by cutting the edges away. Resizing keeps the whole frame and changes how many pixels it is drawn with. Going from a landscape recording to a vertical post is a crop, and something has to leave the picture.
If your video is already 4:5 and you only need it at a different resolution, use the resize tool instead, it is free too and linked below.
1080 x 1350 (4:5) for feed posts, because it takes up the most vertical space, and 1080 x 1920 (9:16) for Reels and Stories.
Only if the aspect ratio falls outside what the placement supports. Crop to 4:5 for the feed or 9:16 for Reels and the platform leaves the framing alone.

No. It runs in your browser on any machine, so you can crop for Instagram from a phone as easily as from a laptop.
The kept area is cropped at source resolution and re-encoded at high quality, so it stays sharp. Cropping deep into a low-resolution source is what makes video look soft, not the crop itself.
