Welcome to REQO ("we," "our," or "us").

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and safeguard your information when you use REQO's browser-based video editing, screen recording, and video-hosting services ("the Service").

By using REQO, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name, email address, and any details you provide to create or manage your account.
• Content: Videos, screen recordings, webcam recordings, transcripts, subtitles, and other files you upload or create through the Service.
• AI-Processed Data: When you use AI features, your content is processed to deliver them. Automatic transcription and auto-captions run on transcription infrastructure that we operate ourselves; your audio is not sent to a third-party transcription provider. For AI summaries, caption translation, and AI editing suggestions, the transcript text (not your video or audio) is sent to OpenAI. If you use AI Studio (a Pro feature), the prompts and images you provide are sent to fal.ai to generate video and images. If you create an AI avatar (a Pro feature), the footage and voice recordings you provide are sent to HeyGen to build the avatar. These providers process your content only to deliver the feature you requested.
• Payment Information: If you purchase a Pro plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we receive subscription status and billing metadata from Stripe.
• Guest Recordings: You can record without an account. Guest recordings are linked to your browser via a temporary cookie and are automatically deleted 24 hours after creation.
• Workspace Data: If you use team workspaces, we store workspace membership, roles, and collaboration data to operate the feature.
• Communications: Messages, feedback, or support requests you send us.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Data: How you access and use the Service (pages viewed, features used, timestamps, video view counts). We use Google Analytics 4 to collect page views and product events (such as a recording being completed).
• Device & Technical Data: Browser type, IP address, operating system, and device identifiers.
• Attribution Data: On your first visit we store the referring site, landing page, and any campaign parameters in a first-party cookie for 180 days, so that if you later sign up we know how you found REQO.
• Language & Timezone Preferences: Your selected interface language and your timezone, stored via cookies to personalize your experience across sessions.
• Cookies and Similar Technologies: Used to maintain sessions, preferences, analytics, and improve functionality (see our Cookie Policy).

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your data only where a lawful basis exists, such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, or your consent.

We use your information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
• Communicate with you (service notifications, security alerts, account updates).
• Respond to feedback, support, and feature requests.
• Improve the functionality, performance, and security of the Service.
• Enforce our Terms and comply with applicable law.

We do not sell or rent personal data.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your videos and recordings are stored and streamed through Bunny.net, a specialist video hosting and content-delivery provider. Account and application data is hosted on secure, industry-standard cloud infrastructure.

We apply encryption, firewalls, and access controls to protect your information. Passwords are stored as salted hashes (bcrypt); we never store plain-text passwords.

However, no online system is 100% secure. You acknowledge that transmission and storage of data involve inherent risks, and REQO cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access or loss.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We only share your personal data in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: Trusted vendors that assist in operations and act as data processors under contractual confidentiality obligations. We currently use:
  • Bunny.net: video storage, encoding, and delivery (CDN).
  • Stripe: payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
  • Google: Google Analytics 4 (usage analytics) and Sign in with Google (authentication).
  • Cloudflare: Turnstile bot protection on sign-in and sign-up.
  • OpenAI: processes transcript text for AI summaries, caption translation, and AI editing suggestions.
  • fal.ai: processes prompts and images for AI Studio generation (Pro feature).
  • HeyGen: processes footage and voice recordings you provide to create AI avatars (Pro feature).
  • Zoho Mail: delivery of transactional and account emails.
• Legal Compliance: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety or that of users or the public.
• Business Transfers: In the event of merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new entity, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell or trade user data.

6. Your Rights (GDPR and Global Privacy Rights)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification: Request corrections or updates to inaccurate data.
• Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your data.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and meet legal obligations.

• Account data is retained while your account remains active.
• Recordings and files are stored according to your plan's retention policy.
• Guest recordings are automatically deleted 24 hours after creation.
• When you delete a video, the underlying video files are also deleted from our video hosting provider.
• When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted or anonymized.
• Upon deletion or termination, associated data may be removed or anonymized within a reasonable period, unless required to keep it for legal, tax, or security purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country).

We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located outside your country of residence.

Where required by law (e.g., for EU/UK users), we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other lawful transfer mechanisms to protect your data.

10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

REQO uses cookies and similar tools for session management, analytics, and personalization. Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics 4.

You may control cookie preferences via your browser or system settings; however, disabling cookies may affect Service functionality.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates take effect when posted, as indicated by the "Last updated" date.

If material changes occur, we will provide notice via email or dashboard alert.
