When to flip a video mirrored left to right
Mirroring flips the picture left to right. It is what you want when a webcam or a phone’s front camera recorded you the way a mirror shows you rather than the way other people see you, which is why any writing in the shot reads backwards.
It is also the standard fix for a selfie-camera recording where you are pointing at something: to the viewer, you appear to point the wrong way. A horizontal flip puts the gesture back where the audience expects it.
Nothing about the frame changes. The resolution, the aspect ratio and the length are all untouched (above 1080p the free plan exports at 1080p), so this is the cheapest of the orientation fixes.

Why does my webcam video look backwards?
Most webcam previews mirror the picture so it behaves like a mirror while you are on camera. Some apps record what they preview. Flipping horizontally puts it back the way an audience sees you.
Does mirroring change the file size or resolution?
No. The frames are the same size and the same length; only the pixels within each frame are reversed left to right. The one exception is a source above 1080p, which the free plan exports at 1080p.
Will the picture be cropped?
No. Rotating turns the whole frame, so a quarter turn swaps the width and the height rather than cutting anything off. Flips leave the frame exactly as it was.
