When 24fps is the right frame rate
24 frames a second is what cinema has used for almost a century, and it is most of why footage "looks like a film": motion carries a little blur between frames instead of looking glassy.
Going down to 24 drops frames rather than blending them, so fast pans shot at 60 can look slightly steppy. It suits talking heads, landscapes and anything graded to look cinematic.

What changes when a video becomes 24fps
A 24fps file shows 1,440 pictures a minute. To get there, frames are dropped or shown again on the same timeline. Nothing is blended and no in-between frame is invented: each picture of your video comes from one of its own frames.
From a 30fps clip, 1 of every 5 frames is dropped. From a 60fps clip, 3 of every 5 frames are dropped. The video does not play faster or slower either way, and the sound keeps its own speed, so speech stays in step with the picture.
The download is an MP4 with H.264 video at the size your video already has, up to 1080p on a free account. Only the frame rate changes.

Will 24fps make my video smaller?
Somewhat. Fewer frames means less to encode, so a 60fps source converted to 24 usually comes out noticeably smaller at the same quality setting.
Is converting to 24fps free?

Does 24fps make the video play faster or slower?
No. Frames are dropped or shown again on the same timeline, so the video plays at the speed it always did and the sound stays in sync. To make a clip play faster or slower, use the speed tool instead.
Can I get a frame rate that is not listed here?
