Cutting a WAV and keeping it a WAV
WAV holds raw uncompressed PCM audio: nothing is thrown away, nothing is guessed on playback. It is the format audio editors and mastering tools want, and it is far too heavy to send around casually.
The output format is set to WAV before you start, so what you download is the same kind of file you uploaded: nothing downstream that expects a WAV has to be told about a new format. If you would rather have something that plays everywhere, switch the output to MP3 in the panel.

Before you cut a WAV
A WAV file is capped at 4 GB by its 32-bit size field, about 6.7 hours of CD-quality stereo (44.1 kHz, 16-bit).
Uncompressed WAV runs about 10 MB a minute at CD quality, so a long recording is usually converted to MP3 or M4A before it is sent.
