What a Spanish transcript from REQO is
It is the words spoken in your file, written out in Spanish, with a start and end time on every word. It comes from Whisper large-v3, the open speech recognition model from OpenAI, running on REQO's own GPU server rather than a third-party speech API. The file is read from REQO storage and the text is saved with your project.
Spanish is one of the languages Whisper saw the most training audio for, and it is among the most accurate in OpenAI's published results. Accents and the ñ are written the way a Spanish reader expects, and questions usually open with ¿, so the text does not need a pass just to put the tildes back.
One model covers every variety. There is no separate setting for Spain, Mexico, Argentina or the Caribbean: the same Spanish model reads all of them, and a strong regional accent costs less accuracy than background music or two people talking at once.
When the recording mixes Spanish and English
Whisper decides the language from the first seconds of the file and then holds it. A Spanish interview that opens with an English introduction can be read as English throughout, with the Spanish half written out badly or translated.
The fix takes one click. Open the file in the editor, go to the Captions panel and set the spoken language to Spanish before generating captions, so the opening seconds do not decide it for the whole file.
The transcript stays in Spanish. REQO does not translate Spanish speech into English: the caption translator works from a transcript into ten other languages, and English is not one of them.

Do I need an account?

Do I have to tell it the audio is Spanish?
No. The language is detected automatically. Set it by hand in the editor's Captions panel only when the recording opens in another language.
Does it handle Latin American Spanish as well as Spanish from Spain?
Yes. It is one model for every variety of Spanish, with no regional setting to pick.
Can it translate the Spanish into English?
No. The transcript is in Spanish. English is not one of the ten languages the caption translator writes into.
